BIG FREE
COMMUNITY
EVENT
Friday 28 May 2027 | Main Stage | 6:00pm – 10:00pm
The Big Free Community Event is a vital and integral part of Birmingham Pride weekend, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to come together, celebrate, participate and experience Pride – regardless of their circumstances.
Taking place on the Main Stage on Friday 28 May 2027, the Big Free Community Event is completely FREE to attendand provides the perfect start to our 30th anniversary Pride weekend.

The event is a celebration of Birmingham’s incredible LGBTQ+ community and the wealth of talent within it. The programme will showcase a diverse mix of emerging and established local LGBTQ+ artists, performers, drag artists, community voices and keynote speakers, providing an important platform for local talent to perform in front of a large audience and for LGBTQ+ voices to be heard.
At the heart of the event is our commitment to making Pride inclusive and accessible to everyone. We believe that the ability to participate in Pride should not be determined by someone’s financial circumstances, which is why the Big Free Community Event remains such an important part of the Birmingham Pride weekend.
Alongside the entertainment and performances, the event will feature community stalls and street food, creating an opportunity for people to meet, connect, discover local organisations and celebrate the breadth and diversity of Birmingham’s LGBTQ+ communities.
Candlelit Vigil
The candlelit vigil is one of the most significant and poignant moments of the Birmingham Pride weekend.
It provides an opportunity for our community to pause from the celebration and come together in remembrance, reflection and solidarity. We remember those we have lost, those who have been affected by HIV and AIDS, those who have faced violence, hatred and discrimination, and those LGBTQ+ people around the world who continue to live without the freedoms and equality that many of us have fought so hard to achieve.
The vigil reminds us that Pride is rooted in both celebration and protest, and that while we have come a long way, there is still much to do.
As we celebrate 30 years of Birmingham Pride, the Big Free Community Event represents what Pride is fundamentally about: community, visibility, inclusion, celebration, remembrance and standing together.
