Birmingham is home to one of the biggest, boldest and most diverse LGBTQ+ scenes in the UK, with a vibrant community centred around the city’s historic Gay Village.
Located around Hurst Street, Bromsgrove Street and the surrounding streets, the Gay Village is home to a fantastic range of bars, clubs, entertainment venues, community organisations, businesses and support services, offering something for everyone.
From live entertainment, drag and dancing to relaxed drinks, food and socialising, Birmingham’s Gay Village has a venue to suit almost every taste. Missing Bar, The Fox and The Village Inn are well known for their lively atmosphere, drag and live entertainment, while Equator offers a more relaxed setting for coffee, drinks and conversation.
The Nightingale Club is one of the UK’s longest-established LGBTQ+ venues and hosts live performances, DJs, special events and club nights throughout the year.
Other popular venues include The Fountain which caters for a predominantly male crowd with hotel, Glamorous with drag DJ’s and late bar, Washworx for cocktails, wines and occasional live entertainment and new arrival, Yumbo Bar and Sauna. Additionally Harringtons Gourmet sandwiches provides food and refreshments daily and Clone Zone is open for adult products, clothing and more. Each contributing to the unique character and diversity of Birmingham’s Gay Village.
The Gay Village is about much more than nightlife. Birmingham LGBT provides a vital community hub, delivering support, information, activities and services for LGBTQ+ people across Birmingham and the wider region. The area is also home to a wide range of LGBTQ+ businesses, community initiatives and organisations.
