Rainbow Voices is a combined group of who are united by their love of song. Established in 1995, we are the leading Midlands based community choir for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans people and their friends. We are a diverse and mixed voice choir who provide a safe environment for old and new friends to meet and sing together. With Covid hitting everyone last year, it has been extremely challenging – we have moved to online rehearsals and will be starting back face to face again ready to perform.
We have approximately 40 singing members at any time and are split into 4 different voices: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. We are a non-audition community choir, tho this does not mean that we do not work to a high standard.
Our musical Director is Rosie Howarth is amazing, as a passionate and energetic choral conductor with a Masters in Choral Conducting from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD). Rosie is well known for making rehearsals fun, instructive and encouraging both excellent musicality and thorough enjoyment for choir members.
We sing a wide variety of music covering songs from the rock, pop, classical, folk and musical theatre genres. We perform most music without scores, having learnt pieces by heart. For Birmingham Pride 2021 we have a got a great set of music to present for the crowds. Hopefully with some that everyone will sing-a-long with.
